Service

How I am involved in service in my community and why these efforts are important to me:

I have been involved in the Prairie Grangers 4H group for 6 years; we do community service projects each year i.e.: City Park improvements, visiting the elderly and after school programs with younger children. I’m also involved with my church working at the Banquet feeding the homeless as well as working in the community as needed.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. One example of how I have demonstrated leadership in both areas:

As a freshman playing on varsity I work out with my team 3 days a week and at home 2 days a week. Currently I have two of my team mates that are now working out at my house with me two days a week. My coach told the local paper that our team practices have gone up a notch because of my intensity.

How I pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete:

As a young student athlete I have set goals for this part of my life. To achieve these goals I have put together a plan; I train hard, eat healthy, take vitamins and supplements that keep my body healthy. I also try to get 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night. I read on a regular basis and I understand that life is not all volleyball but right now I do focus a great deal of my time on volleyball and my grades.
