I volunteer at an organization called Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding Facility. It is a facility dedicated to providing physical and occupational therapy to students with disabilities through horseback riding. As a volunteer, I sidewalk (to help students keep their balance while riding), lead horses, help at camps, help in the barn, and in the administration office. I love working at Lovelane because it is amazing to watch how the students' experiences on horseback dramatically improve their lives. It gives them a sense of belonging and helps with their disabilities. I get to work with a lot of different kids and they are all so happy to be there- their happiness is contagious.
I work hard to always practice good sportsmanship and support my teammates. I also pride myself on my time-management skills, without which I would not be able to play and sport and maintain my status as one of the top students in my class. I am extremely dedicated to my schoolwork and it is a challenge balancing that with playing on a golf team, but I do my best and have been very successful. A schedule as filled as mine inevitably leads to some stress, but I work hard to keep my stress level to a minimum. Despite my large quantity of work I always try to get a good amount of sleep so I can perform both on and off the golf course.
