Service

How I am involved in service in my community and why these efforts are important to me:

In my community there are many activities that I can be involved in. I am a member in the Interact Club, FFA Club, and 4-H. Interact is a youth Rotary club for students. In Interact we have collected pennies for Polio. In the FFA we have held a Halloween Carnival, a Toy Drive, and a Canned Food Drive, and in 4-H I have sent boxes to soldiers, sent valentine's cards to soldiers, helped the fair clean up, and was involved in sending boxes to children in Africa.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. One example of how I have demonstrated leadership in both areas:

As one of the only pitchers of our high school softball team I have had to strive to do my best in pitching all of our games. Not only have I had to have the physical strength, but the mental as well. My coaches talk with me before every game and prepare me for my battles ahead. They tell me that I am a strong leader of the team and if I were to choose to give up, the team would soon follow in that direction as well. In the classroom, there are always types of students that teachers and other students looks up to as an example. I am one of those examples mainly for the reasons that I have maintained a 4.0 throughout my sophomore year and am a hard worker in every class. I strive to do my best and achieve the highest standards that I am capable of.

How I pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete:

Maintaing a strong and heathly athletic performance is more than just a matter of training, practicing, and staying in shape. Our bodies need support such as proper nutrition, hydration, and rest. I drink lots of water throughout the day in order to stay hydrated. I eat balanced and nutritious meals, along with taking vitamins, and drinking Emergen-C. I strive to stay in physical condition that is required for my sports. Along with the coache's workouts, I run at home and workout on my own time.
