Service

How I am involved in service in my community and why these efforts are important to me:

I am a Peer Minister at my church, St. Mark of Highlands Ranch, and in this role I have mentored and helped develop the faith life of teens in my parish and community in addition to developing my own personal faith journey. Additionally, I am a Eagle Leader at my high school for my senior year which I had to be nominated for and awarded. These leadership roles are important to me and I have been consistent in my ability to lead and serve as evident by my achievement of the Golden Eagle Basketball Award my freshman year, the Leadership Award for Basketball my sophomore year and my captain position my first two years for the softball program. Serving and leading others comes naturally to me and also are important to me as I select the school I will attend following high school.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. One example of how I have demonstrated leadership in both areas:

Leadership comes naturally to me both in my performance on the field as well as my understanding, empathy and passion in the locker room. I believe that I have demonstrated those abilities in my multiple captain roles but also in my mentoring younger participants both on the high school rosters but as a volunteer coach for a young children softball team. It was a great experience and I enjoy my relationships with those young children still when I see them outside of the sport.

How I pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete:

I believe in pursuing multiple athletic opportunities as I have participated in softball, basketball and track in my high school experience. In fact, I joined track my junior year without the benefit of ever participating in the sport in the past. New experiences and attempting new experiences are part of being a healthy athlete and I have enjoyed the cross training experience of playing the multiple sports.
