Service
I have been involved with many things in my community. Just recently I helped paint a youth recreational center in San Diego. Also in San Diego I helped plant and maintain the wildlife in a canyon that runs through the middle of a community, and next to an elementary school. Helping with the canyon would aid to making the community a more beautiful place. At the San Pasqual Academy, I helped the foster kids in planting the garden, weeding, and maintaing the land that they have. The plants at the academy go straight to feeding the foster students, as well as getting money for the academy. I have helped out not only in my community, but in other communities like in San Francisco as well as New Orleans. Community service never gets old for me; it brings me great joy knowing that I made a difference in someone's life.
I plan on serving my community many times in the future. What ever opportunity presents itself, I will be taking it right away. I plan on working with "The Surfrider Foundation" beach clean up. During summer I will be traveling to Puerto Rico where me and my church group will be working for a week helping out the community of San Juan. The following summer I will be traveling with my church to South Africa, where we will also be working for a week in different communities. My dad's work hosts community service events frequently so I will be able to help my community a lot this year. I plan on helping out my community, as well as others, for decades to come.
Staying in shape and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a big part of my life. I work extremely hard during practices and during games, and eating healthily and working out is part of my daily routine. I also work hard every day during off the court because I know the balance of academics and athletics is important. Drugs and alcohol are not apart of anything I do, and they never will be. I know that drugs and alcohol will not benefit me, and being healthy does not include them.
