Personal Highlights

I started rowing back in 8th grade, and instantly loved it. I love the challenges of rowing, and constantly strive to be the best I can be. This also applies to academics, where I am a dedicated student taking AP and Honors classes. I believe in working hard and never quitting in all areas of my life, always giving 110%. I am a team player and leader on Sagamore. I lead by example and always get along with others, on and off the water. I respect my fellow rowers, who are also my friends.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

My vision for future service to my community will definitely be Habitat for Humanity and raising money for cancer research with Swim Across America. I've been involved with both these organizations for the past few years now and believe in them strongly. I look forward to volunteering long into my adulthood.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I believe in being well rounded, this includes doing well in school, training hard at crew, serving my community and living a healthy lifestyle. I am a dedicated student and athlete, taking AP and honors classes and training hard, striving to be the best I can be. I believe and participate in community service and being sensitive to others in need. I also live a healthy lifestyle, eating well, taking care of mind and body. I believe all of these contribute to a healthy athletic performance.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have participated in a variety of service activites in my community. I've been involved in many fundraisers, not only for my school, but for other organizations, such as; Club 4:12, Swim Across America, and Habitat for Humanity. The most influential of my service activites would be Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that provides volunteers and supplies to help build homes for low income families or those in need. My father is a team captain and I have been fortunate to work with them twice and soon to be a third time. Having worked on these houses has been very gratifying, knowing that I helped these families rebuild their homes. This experience made me realize that there is good in the world, people volunteering their time, caring that one day these families will have a home of their own. It opened my eyes to other families struggles and brought a deep sensitivity to others in need. I look forward to working with this organization for many years to come.
