I am an accomplished violinist and violist. I spend almost as much time each week with my music as with swimming. I have won numerous solo/ensemble awards, and am currently principal violinist/concertmaster in the high school orchestra, and am Assistant Principal violist for the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, a highly selective orchestra made of students in grades 9-12 from the surrounding tri-state area.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

On the field, I served as Captain of the 2012 Field Hockey Team. This involved leading female athletes spanning grades 9-12. Off the field, I lead the news editing team for the school newspaper, and I am also a Trained Student Leader/peer counselor. Through these efforts, I am guiding a team of my peers and younger students to accomplish activities and deliver strong results.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I am very busy with academics, sports, and music, so I don't have a lot of down-time. I have learned to manage my time well, and take care of my health as best I can. I eat healthy, nutritious foods, get a sports massage every now and then, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy life! It's possible to do it all, but sometimes I have to prioritize one over the other. Academics and school work must come first, and with that in mind, I have been able to manage it all so far!

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have been involved in a number of service activities through school, church, and community. I led a fundraising effort to support Invisible Children, which raised over $1000 in support of the organization's efforts. I was a part of the Cincinnati's Zoo's VolunTeen Program last summer, working over 140 hours in various positions to support the Zoo's educational and community efforts. I also give back to others through my music. I have played violin for retirement centers, church programs, and charity/fundraising events. I enjoy sharing my talent/passion for music with others. I also tutor middle school students after school.

I plan to do volunteer work this summer in my field of interest (biology) at the Cincinnati Nature Center.
