Personal Highlights

Hi my name is Paola Hilario. I go to Clarke Central High School in Athens, Ga., and I play for the CCHS Volleyball team. I've been playing for approximately five years and I absolutely LOVE it. Volleyball could possibly be my only chance to get into a great college, whether it's a D3 or 2, it doesn't matter, I just wanna play some volleyball somewhere AND have a good education. As a player, I just wanna be understood and not underestimated or be discriminated by a coach. I want a chance. #6

I am currently focusing on soccer now. I played varsity soccer (and soccer) for the first time this year (2012) as a right full back and I absolutely love it! volleyball wasn't working out so it isn't my main sport anymore. I wanted a chance and it just so happened to not be with volleyball. But now I have a chance with soccer and I'd love to continue with it in college.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I love and enjoy helping out other players. I like seeing them progress and get better since they've began. Everyday, no matter how the mood is in the gym, I always try to pump the team up about coming to practice, and i show leadership by not complaining about things but just doing them and encouraging my teammates to do the same at the same time. When I see my teammates off the court, I always try to give them a friendly smile and ask them how they're doing if I don't see them for the rest of the day. I love my team.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
