Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As one of the captains of the girls' basketball team at my high school, I set a good example to the other girls' by the way I act. I don't curse, fight, have a good attitude, and show good sportsmanship. By acting this way others would want to have a more controlled attitude and help other girls on the team as well. When we are playing basketball I encourage the players to give their all, play hard defense, offense, and to stay in the game. As a leader I feel as though we should help others to feel and be encouraged so they could continue on and encourage someone else.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

At my school, Thornton Township High School, I take a P.E. class that helps me workout. I take P.E. Conditioning which helps me work on my arms, legs, abs, and any other parts of the body that could grow stronger. I also take time through the week to condition with one of the coaches. Our conditioning consist of us working on drills, dribbling, shooting, passing, and other basketball techniques. The conditioning is just what I need in order to keep up with my other extracurricular activities and my schoolwork.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I serve the community by helping people around each year. I'm in the Older Boys' and Girls' Conference which is a christian youth group. We help bring people closer to God and learn more in the word. We also give baskets for people during the winter. We carol to the people that we give baskets and give them blessings. The things we do in this group helps others and that's why it is important to me.
