Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have been playing football since the 4th grade and have been a team captain every year 4th through the 8th grade, and also in my Junior Year. I feel that I am a very good leader for my peers both on and off the field. Many of the younger team members look up to me for guidance. Even the seniors say that I am the leader of the team, which is a great compliment coming from them.
I have helped my dad to run a youth football camp every year for the past 5 years. It is great to help teach the youth how to play the sport I love so much. I also referree YAFL football games, to give back to the community which I grew up in.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I strive to be the very best athlete that I can be, both on and off the field. I work hard on both my academics and my athletic endeavors. I try to be the best friend and team mate that I can possibly be. I try to eat healthy, drink a LOT of milk, and try to get plenty of sleep every night.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have completed 9 years in 4-H, and am very active in my club. We complete approximately 8-10 community service projects each year, including meals for needy families, making holiday cards for Nursing Home residents, etc. I have been a 4-H junior leader for the past 7 years, which allows me to help younger members and teach them about the projects they are taking.

I have participated in the Annual Relay for Life for as long as I can remember, to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.

I always try to make time for my littlest fans no matter what is going on in my life. I was honored to be asked to be the guest "Book Reader" by the 3rd grade class this past year.
