Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Being a Leader isnt just about taking charge or ordering people around, it is much more than that. Its about being a leader on and off the court. I know that im a powerful leader within my team because of everything that we go through together. Being Captian of the team this year also makes me care even more about team than I already do. Being a leader means helping out your team in any way and I always help out my team on and off the court. Whether its picking a teammate up after a bad play, picking the team up after losing, pulling the team together on the court, talking to my team and giving them motivational speeches to push them, encouraging them and giving them confidence, as well as helping them with individual skills. However thats just some of the simple things I do on the court with my team, off the court its a whole different leadership perspectice. IF im on the sidelines I cheer like crazy and show my support, I pick up players that are down, I help them during timeouts to position themselves properly, I even help my team mates with homework or personal problems they have because I love them all so much and care deeply for each and everyone those girls on my team.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Being a heathy athlete will reflect someones performance deeply. I know that i persue a heathly athletic performance because my performance on the court shows it. I eat very heathly during pre-season and my season. I also will maintain a healthy eating style when my season has ended because having a proper diet will make sure that im heathly during the season. Also being able to workout regularly to maintain a heathly and fit body. I always will be working out because i like to stay fit on and off my season. I dont complain about eating right or having to do workouts because I know that it will only benefit me more on the court. Also, sleep is very important. Although i may be super involved in my school and maintain an outstanding honors average every year I do find the appropiate times to sleep so that my perforamce the next day will benefit from it.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Serving in my community means so much to me exspecially when I have the oppertunity to work with younger children because it sets a postivie example for them. I am very involved in my community and I have been for the past 4 years. For example I have been volenteering to assist dance classes for younger students, I volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club monthly, I work with Habitat and Humanity building homes for people in need, I am an active member in my Youth Bureau volenteering at different events for schools and the community. I have been involved with my community for years and i will also continue to be involved because one it is fun, two you meet amazing people, three your helping out the community and others, and lastly I know im making a postive difference with people and the community and being a role model is what makes a person different.
