To me a leader is a person who steps up to the plate and does what needs to be done, while helping others get their job done as well. On the field I always try to help the newer members of the team, for example if our Coach makes us run; I finish my run then I always look back. If there is someone that is slower and struggling, I always sprint back and finish running with them. I talk to them and let them know that they will get faster, to keep going. That is not only what a leader is that is what a team member does.
Off the field, I am a vocal person. I voice my opinion of right and wrong and try to lead people by example. If I am not willing to to it myself, why would I expect someone to listen to me.
I try to maintain a good diet free of soda and to much junk food, being a teenage that is sometime hard. I never use alcohol or drugs, they just keep you from preforming at your best. I try to keep a positive attitude and try to encourage my teammates to keep their heads up even when we are down. You have to be well rounded to have a healthy athletic performance, and I just try to stay as balanced as I can.
Just took on the role on "Mini Coach" for the McNabb Lady Indians Middle School team. I serve as a mentor and role model for the girls. Even though I feel I have a lot to offer them with my experience, what they are giving me is priceless. They are our future varsity team and I can't wait to see them develop into greatness.
I will be taking part in the Volunteen Program again this year, at Baptist Health Lexington. This summer I will spend 60 hours working with the Anesthesia, and another 60 hours working with research. I can't wait to experience giving back.
I am working with the fraternal order of police in Mount Sterling in their annual haunted house to support the shop with a cop program. What a great cause.
I completed a 120 hour volunteer program at Central Baptist hospital in the summer of 2012. I was able to work with the research department in order to offer clinical trials for patients. These are new and exciting opportunities that are offered to patients that are not offered on the market at this time.
I am also involved with the youth program at Hope Church of God where we participate in many activities through out the year to reach out to our community and help those in need. We work closely with the Hope Hill Children's Home to help provide them with opportunities to experience activities they might not other wise be able to experience such as trips to national parks and outing such as skating.
I help with the Annual Hope Horse Show, all proceeds go to the Hope Hill Children's Home. I do administrative task along with helping the younger kids in the guided events.
