Leadership qualities are also very important to me because every group needs a leader and I believe I have those qualities. I do this by thinking for myself, staying drug and alcohol free, not misbehaving, and trying to resolve problems when I encounter them. On the field I believe it is pertinent to be a leader for fellow players and always have a good attitude as this is an important factor in being a powerful role model.
To me, healthy performance is a must not only in sports but in everyday life. Being healthy in your performance is not all about the clichéd term of being steroid free or taking your vitamins. It is about being mentally strong and realizing that most of what happens to us is a learning experience and that failure is a tool to success.
Staying actively involved in my community is important to me. At my high school I was chosen by the school administration to be part of a program called, "Teen Counseling". This group of a very select thirteen high school students speaks to and guides incoming freshman about the importance of staying drug and alcohol free and ways they can deal with upcoming social issues within the high school environment. I was also chosen by the school administration to be a member of the Principal Student Advisory Board. We meet once a month and we discuss issues and opinions of the student body versus the school administration and how any issues can be resolved.
