Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

On the field, I do my best to keep my focus on God because He has given me the talents and skills I possess. I have embraced the verse Jeremiah 29:11 that basically says, God has a plan for my life and that is to give me hope and a future. I encourage my teammates and lead them to keep our spirits high in victory and defeat. I believe your "presence" on the field or court, that is demeanor, mood, and the way you carry yourself, on the field is a catalyst to success. Off the field, I serve as an officer in Fellowship of Christian Students where I took a lead in See You At The Pole.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

To maintain healthy athletic performance, I follow a strict workout plan during the school year as well as the summer. My main goal is to continue to improve in all areas of performance through aerobic exercise, weight training, and conditioning. I have seen improvement this year in both volleyball and softball. I lead the softball team in multiple stats categories including batting average (.404), slugging % (.702), stolen bases (6), doubles(8), and RBIs (11), which earned me 1st Team All-District. I realize that hard work pays off and I plan to be even better next year which is my senior year.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I attend Myrtle Springs Baptist Church in Hooks, Texas. I help pack shoes boxes for Operation Christmas Child with Malta Baptist Church as well as the local collection center in Texarkana through my Fellowship of Christian Students chapter at New Boston High School. I participate in Shoes for Orphaned Souls. I volunteer through the New Boston Athletic Department with Special Olympics; Carson's Crossing is a large gathering of Special Olympics athletes from the surrounding area and I serve as a partner to a special athlete to encourage them during their competition.
