Personal Highlights

I've been on my schools varsity football team, since I was a freshman. My freshman year, I earned Honorable Mention while playing at the position of Nose Guard, and was the freshman to do so at my school. My sophmore year, I play Fullback and Nose Guard. I didnt play my last three games due to academic difficulties. This year, my junior year. I've been playing quite some Middle Linebacker, Nose Guard, and Fullback. I try to do my best to lead my team and keep everyone in high spirtes.

Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

On the field you must keep your cool. Winning or losing. You've got to keep your game face on and stay focused. When the going gets tough, thats when you can seperate the boys from the men. Some of us give up, while others stick it out til' the end. Im one of those guys who stick it out to the end, and encourage my teammates to do the same. Off the field, I once broke up a fight and worked as a "Teen Mentor".

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I try to be the best I can be, when I want. Growing up as a child, I didnt get as much support as I needed. My mother is my backbone and she helps me through everything. Growing up without a male figure was hard. Looking up to football players was what I did and through out my teen years I've just became better and better and maintaining my grades and staying in line.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I took up a job in my community. Its called "Get Real". Its where a handful amount of teens from different schools and parts of the city, gather together and over the summer we mentor younger inner city kids. I like helping out these kids. Most of them being african-american, showing them that theres other ways than dealing drugs and being a "rapper". That you can be whatever you want, you've just got to believe in yourself and stay positive.
