Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I am in the process of becoming an officer for my school's California Scholarship Federation and I am a competing member of Homestead High School's Future Business Leaders of America. On the field, I am aiming toward the title of captain of my school's varsity field hockey team for my senior year by improving my leadership skills and assertiveness.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

To pursue a continuously healthy athletic performance, I make sure to participate in different field hockey teams and clubs year round. In the fall, I play field hockey for my school, in the winter I play indoor hockey with a local club team, for spring I play on the local club's outdoor field hockey sessions, and for summer I join different camps and clubs as well as the same local team I play indoor and spring hockey with. I have also started our school's own off-season practices so that our team has a chance to continue field hockey year round. I act as the unofficial coach during these sessions because having an official coach would violate our area's CCS qualification rules. Furthermore, I make sure to keep a balanced diet in order to stay healthy and be active as much as possible. I often run after school, hike, or mountain bike to stay in shape. This conditioning keeps my body strong enough to withstand the demanding field hockey season in the fall.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am an active member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF), a selective school club that is based off community service. Various community service projects I have participated in through CSF have been volunteering at a Stanford Blood Drive, scorekeeping/selling tickets at sports events, and harvesting crops at a local farm to donate food to charity organizations. Additionally, I am a competing member of Homestead High School's Business Leaders of America.

I have also tutored students for a total of over sixty hours as community service for Homestead High School's Academic Center program.
