Personal Highlights

My name is Alexis Stephens and I am currently 6'2" and I just completed my senior season at North Pocono High school. I was the starting center for the Lady Trojans basketball team under Head Coach Dan Hogan as a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior. I have played for the NEPA Flames AAU National High School Team from Scranton Pennsylvania, and I played for JB Hoops AAU National High School Team from Scranton Pennsylvania. I have been playing AAU basketball since the 5th grade under such coaches as David Martin and Amber Jacobs who have worked with me to teach me the game along with my high school coach Dan Hogan. I continually work hard to learn new techniques which will help me as I continue with my high school career. As a goal I would like to be part of a program where I could make a contribution early on in my career as well as a school where I can get a great education.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.
-
Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
-
Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have volunteered my time at school eating lunch with middle school age autistic kids. This program is called "Lunch Buddies". This time is spent talking with and encouraging those kids with autism and letting them know that I am their friend. Each week I serve in my church, Parker Hill Community Church, aiding and helping with the 2 & 3 year olds class. This age group is alot of fun to work with and each week I feel blessed to have been able to spend time with them. I am also involved once a week with the library club and Campus Life.
