Former Captain (Novice)
My name is Tyler James Cianciulli. I have been rowing for four years and hopefully will be for the rest of my life. I am dedicated, motivated and hard working. Although I may not be the tallest or strongest rower, I bring to the table what some others don't. Work ethic, responsibility and a genuine love of the sport. Through my actions, numbers and achievements I believe I truly emphasize what it means to be a rower.
I was president of the National Junior Honor Society. In addition, I am a member of Student Council at my school. I am a leader on my Crew Team, demonstrated through my role as a former captain. I now still fulfill my responsibilities as a vital member of both my school, my team and my community. Working as a bus-boy since I obtained my working papers gave me the opportunity to lead through example.
I pursue healthy athletic performance by maintaining my Magna Cum Laude GPA, while still accomplishing my goals on the SJB Crew Team. I remain involved in my community through service and clubs, Which allows me to gain experience and skills critical to my performance in athletics.
I participate in Beach-Cleanups regularly. This helps serve my community because it keeps the environment and wildlife thriving. It is important to me because I live and work on Fire Island, where the Cleanups take place. In addition I participate in the annual Walk for Autism, which is close to my heart because my cousin is affected. Also, I do weekly service at my local PetCo in order to help animals. These animals were abused and I look after them.
