Field Hockey Additional

2011 I went to Eastern Camp which I went 2-0-2 with one goal let in for the final tournament. I've played in the Hockey, Hot, and Hazy tournament for the past two year in which this year we made it to the semi-finals with an amazing day of field hockey. I have been a part of many tournaments for my club, South Jersey Edge, including the recent club championships in Virginia Beach. My team won u16 National Champions for the USAFH Festival, and did very well in the 2013 Disney Showcase. I also am a part of the SJ Edge indoor league, which I have already attended two tournaments in Pennsylvania for. Last winter I did Futures, which I was invited to again this year. During the 2012 season, 3 out of the 5 losses by my school team were lost by 1 goal, two in which were in overtime, advancing to the second round of playoffs.
Ended my senior season at 17-3, with eleven shutouts, after advancing to the 4th of the playoffs. We just recently defeated Ocean City, one of the top teams in our division. 2-0 for the first time in school history, and were Division and Conference Champions.

Other Academic Information
I come from a family of hockey enthusiasts. My older brother and sister played street hockey for our township, as do my twin brother, Jake, and I. My brother and I have collected a huge amount of awards over our street hockey career, including countless traveling tournaments, such as winning first place in Niagra Falls and Pennsylvania. My dad was an exceptional street hockey goalie in his youth and has coached hockey since I was little, teaching me a lot to get me to where I am today.

Personal Highlights

I am a goalie for field hockey, Varsity starter, and part of the club South Jersey Edge. I've been playing goalie since I was 6 for street hockey and went on to field hockey in 7th grade. I am a very vocal and aggressive goalie, I'm fully committed to goalkeeping, and have worked my whole life perfecting my angles, reaction time, footwork, etc. To this day I am still progressing, making some new achievement every day.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As a goalie, I am very vocal on the field, letting my players know who they should be marking, and encouraging them to never give up. Off the field, I am active in teaching younger goalies how to play. Last year I was the goalie coach for our little league street hockey team, teaching them how to watch their angles and challenging a ball.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
-
Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

In my community, I volunteer at my dad's work, which is a nursing home. Every year, I assist in setting up areas for easter egg hunts, or decorating for Halloween. I also help my dad, who is the food service director, in the kitchen by setting up trays for each patient, or taking stock of the food.
