Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.
-
Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
-
Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have been serving my community in various ways as far back as my third grade year when I donated my hair to Locks of Love for the first time. Since then, I have donated my hair three more times, totaling four feet of hair.

I have 80 documented and many more undocumented hours of service from activities such as working with horses and disabled children at Equine Assisted Therapy, working at my school's auction, helping teachers set up their rooms, working at a food pantry, and more. By the end of this year, I will have completed 60 more documented hours of service for my junior service project. I hope to do this at a shelter of some sort for abused women and/or children.

It is important to me to serve my community because it makes me feel whole. People often ask me why I donate my hair every time I get it cut and I can never really come up with a concrete answer. It just feels right to do it and I cannot imagine getting my hair cut and /not/ donating it. I enjoy working directly with people and seeing their joy that results from my help. That is one of the reasons that I love volunteering at Equine Assisted Therapy and one of the many reasons that I want to do my service project at a shelter of some sort for abused women and/or children.
