I am a well rounded athlete. I have been competing in high level sports all my life. My main sport is Ice Hockey, following with soccer and running. I have a bursary to Ridley College private boarding school to play on the First Girls Hockey team (Grade 9-12) and as well as attend my year there academically. I plan to strive for the best within sports and Schooling.
I believe that Athleticism leadership is a big part on and off the field. An example of how I have demonstrated leadership in both areas was when there was a time my team was at a tournament. I was a rookie, and so were a couple of others. We were in the hotel room alone, with a couple of girls that were on the team before. Us, the rookies, knew we were going to be pressured into doing things that were uncomfortable with. I was nervous, because we were still young. They were pressuring and Pressuring us to do what they wanted us to do. I had mentioned to the other girls that they didn't have to do it. I stood up for myself and the other rookies. I stood up and said to the girls that were pressuring us "why do we have to do what you want us to do, to be accepted on the team". They were stunned and did not know what to say. I went out of the room and told my coaches what had happened. I think this was a good example of leadership because I did not just save the other rookies from doing something bad, but I changed the way the team went, even the whole league. On the ice, an example of leadership is when my defense partner got out of control in front of the net. She started punching and started a fight. I broke up the fight and explained to her that it was not necessary because you will get kicked out, and it won't be beneficial when we need you in the next game. I believe those are good examples if leadership I have demonstrated on and off of the ice.
I pursue healthy athletic performance by being active in school, sports, family, and team mates. My way of life goes in a certain order of importance. I start with Family, my family are the people that motivate with sports and get me to my hockey games. They are the most important people in my life. The second importance to me is school, being an academic athlete, you need to section your time properly so you can get good grades. If you do not try in school, you will not get anywhere in the feature. My second importance is sports, not far from school, if school comes first, school comes first. I need to work hard during sports to be able to prove myself. If I am injured, I need to follow what they say to do, if I can't play, I can't play I need to recover. Team mates are the last importance, but is still, important because I am with them On the ice, and Off the ice in class. I need to get along with them, even if you do not like them, you still have to treat them with respect.
I am very involved in service within my community. I help out at the Local food bank every Christmas, I go on the ice with my sisters and cousins hockey team, and help with picking up pucks, demonstrating drills, and helping the kids and or coaches with anything they need help with. I also got involved in helping out special needs kids on the ice, or kids with disabilities. These efforts are really important to me as a youth. Its a warm feeling in my hear knowing that I can help in the community and volunteer my time to help others. Whenever there is an opportunity to volunteer, I am always willing to give my time to go help others. My school, Ridley College's motto is "Terar Dum Prosim". It means "May I Be Consumed In Service". I follow this motto fully because I believe that service in your community is more than important, It is something you need to be a part in.
