Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Aside from being the head captain of my basketball team, I am also a leader on the academic front. I am ranked first in my class, and I actively ask questions in class and do my best to get the most out of my courses. On the court, I am a selfless, and do my best to make others on my team better; I carry this goal into the classroom, namely AP Calculus AB. I am attempting to prepare myself for the AP Physics C exam, and at times I teach myself calculus concepts ahead of the class; as a result, it is sometimes easier for me to explain certain concepts to struggling peers than the teacher, as I had just got through learning the concept myself.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I have never been the type of student who frequents the "party scene," I had never even been to a school dance until my junior year. That has worked in my favor because, while in my school's basketball program, I have witnessed the consequences of poor decisions made by teammates on the "party scene." The redundant video shown before every AAU tournament regarding eligibility and substance abuse, is something that I have taken to heart and something that has produced a most enjoyable, prosperous high school student-athlete experience.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

My primary service to my community is related to the youth of Hanford. I have been a volunteer Rookie League coach for the National Junior Basketball League in my area, and am going to volunteer again in the near future. I have also volunteered my services at various elementary schools in town, from running a booth at a craft fair, to just aiding a teacher at the junior high I graduated from.
