Academics
Personal
selected as a volunteer for the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati 2013. I was a ballperson for the week of the tournament. This was my first year being a ballperson. I started out the first day on the lower courts and was quickly promoted to the main courts. It was a very rewarding experience for me. I plan to volunteer again next year.
I attend weekly high school clinics with the head tennis coaches of marshall university. I also practice every chance I get with my father who is the assistant coach at my high school. One of my daily classes at school is geared toward strength and fitness training. This class is greatly benefiting my strength and fitness level.
Being a leader off the field is just as important as being a leader on the field. Off the field i try my best be positive and encouraging to my teamates and others. Asking how thier day is and being there for them when they need a friend. On the tennis court it is highly impotant to stay relaxed and focused. During one of our matches in our 2013 season one of my teamates was in a very long and important match. After my match was finished i stayed and encouraged them to keep playing hard and dont give up. Sticking together as a team is one of the most important things to grown as a team and become a better team.
As a student athelete there is many things i do to pursue "healthy athletic performance". Throuout the week i train for at least 2 hours a night. Some nights are actual time on the tennis court practicing strategies and shots and the other nights are focused on fittness. I take anatomy at school to help better my knowlege on keeping my body healthy and ready to perform. I try my best to eat healthy foods and keep a balanced diet of all food groups. During the week i aslo do my homework every night. Acedemics is always the first thing i focus on when i get done with the school day. before competition days i prepare my body by light warm ups and staying relaxed but yet focused on the task at hand.
I am an active member in the OASC (Ohio Association of Student Councils) in which I attend leadership meetings and events to gain knowledge and ideas to bring back to my school and community. Also, I have been selected to be the student representative for the junior body on the school board. Through this program i will serve a two year term and try to bring a voice of my fellow classmates to the board. I am also trying to get the students more involed in community service projects that reflect the love students have for thier community. I am also highly ivolved in my youth group at first baptist church. I also volunteered at the 2013 western and southern open as ball kid. During this event i recieved 50 hours of community service.
