Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

To me, I believe one of the most productive ways to be a leader is to lead by example. In athletics I am always one of the hardest workers. Throughout my athletic life, in both baseball and basketball, I have had a lot of success due to my hard work. All the places I have been, this same type of work ethic has rubbed off onto my teammates.

This same hard work is not only limited to athletics. I also apply this same work effort to the classroom where I have had great success. In addition, I enjoy helping and tutoring those who may be struggling in the classroom to better understand whatever they need help with and to boost their academic success.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue "healthy athletic performance" in many ways. First of all, I train and workout in ways that will give me the best opportunity to perform at my best. This includes stretching before and after workouts to prevent injuries and working out with the correct technique to optimize my performance results. I also believe that maintaining a healthy diet will help my athletic performance. Maintaining a strong and healthy athletic performance is more than just a matter of training, practice, and "keeping in shape." Your body needs support in the form of proper nutrition, hydration, and rest in order to keep performing and responding at peak levels. I have a strong interest in the way foods can boost human performance and it is due to this interest that I have chosen to pursue a major in food science in college.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Special Olympics Basketball - Coaching those with special needs the game of basketball.

"Lil-Dribblers"- Teaching kids younger than me the game of basketball as well as getting them excited about the game.

"Adopt an Athlete" program - Attending elementary schools to help children learn. (reading, puzzles, educational games)

Local Food Pantries - I volunteer here to help those in the community who are less fortunate.

Environmental Beautification - Helping to keep the environment cleaner and healthier. (litter pick-up, recycling, gardening at schools in my district)

Volunteering in many aspects of the community is very important to me because it allows me to help people in many ways. In regards to my basketball activities, what a better way than to help those who are younger or less fortunate to obtain a better understanding of the game and really get them excited about athletics.
