Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Off the field: In band, as a section leader I pushed my squadlings to work hard at bettering there drumming skills
On the field: I push other teammates by pushing myself to throw farther. By competing with them daily, both them and I end up with farther PR's at the end of the season.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue healthy athletic performance by eating to build up my body. In addition, I lift weights to increase my overall strength which will carry over to throwing.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

As a four year member of our high school's band programs, I volunteer many hours to practice and perform for our community. Our marching band is very active in our community and performs in many events throughout the year, including local festivals, nursing homes, ground breaking ceremonies, and three annual parades on Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, Sunday and Monday). The symphonic band performs concerts at the school and local mall. I am the drummer for the high school jazz band where we perform as requested for local non-profit organizations such the Board of Education dinners.

I am very active in our local Young Life Chapter where I share my belief in Jesus Christ with my peers and help to guide the younger kids in positive ways. I have played the drums in a church band group. I assist as an usher at my church and have helped with the video of services, in addition to assisting with various outreaches our church puts on for the community.

As in many public schools there are positive and negative influences. I choose to be a servant of Jesus and act and live in a positive manner and be a good role model for others around me.
