In addition to softball I am also the starting center on the Franklin Academy Varsity Girls Basketball team. The team went 16-9 overall.

I personally finished the season with 171 rebounds & 31 blocked shots. Average 11+ rebounds per game.

My first love is softball. I love to play basketball to help keep myself inshape for softball.

I'd love to have the opportunity to play softball for another four (4) years after high school. I love the competitive level that the college game will provide.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have been chosen to be the captain of two different sports before. One in basketball and twice in softball. I have learned being a leader is harder than it sounds, I have had to make decisions that i know not everyone will be fine with. During softball season, my team was warming up for a game and one of the girls told me her grandparents were traveling three hours to see her start. That game she was not going to be starting but I was. She was so upset, so i went up to my coach and offered my teammate my spot to start. I believe out of ever moment that one stuck out to me the most because I could see myself being unselfish and putting others first at a young age. One example outside of school is I was a coach for a rec softball team, one of my younger friends played on the team and I was in charge of making the line up. I decided that it would be better if she sat some of the game because we needed a more experienced player at 2nd against this hard team. She did not understand at first but once she saw I stuck to my gut and the 2nd baseman we put it stopped every ball she finally understood.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue a "healthy athletic performance" by always trying to organize my time and not get overwhelmed. I pace myself and use my time management skills. I always try to have time for my homework, my sports and some relaxing/friend time. I believe every student athlete should be a student first.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have been involved within the community since i was in middle school. I would help out with small functions within my town of Wake Forest, North Carolina. I have participated in Herbfest, Tunnels to Towers and other small festivals around town since i was 12. I also have helped coach parks and recreational softball, i have been an activities coordinator at Hillside Nursing home. Finally, I participate in a mentoring program through my school, Franklin Academy.
