Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Whether it be on the football field, track, in the classroom, or whatever I am doing, I always give 110%. Therefore I feel that I lead by example because if I am pushing myself to be the best I can be by using hard work and learning as much as I can, then I can excel as a leader. If I am always giving 110%, then my teammates and peers will see my actions and do the same themselves.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I have always been a healthy student-athlete. I always strive to be the best through hard work and determination. This shows through my accomplishments in the classroom and in my training. I put everything I have into everything I do. This has always been the case from elementary school to high school.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have accumulated many hours of community service. I have volunteered as a summer learning camp counselor, operated booths for fairs, and participated many times in clean-ups after programs, carnivals, and family nights for the local elementary schools. I do this because it helps build friendships and it makes me feel good that my former teachers can count on me when needed. Another act of community service that I take pride in, is volunteering for the Neph-Cure Foundation. This is very important to me because my brother was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome in 2006, when he was 8 years old. We have participated in walks, toy drives, and helped raise money for donations. I have also volunteered for local clubs like the Red Suspenders Charity to help raise money for the Special Olympics. I was raised in La Porte and I take a lot of pride in my community and I am always willing to give back.
