Personal Highlights

Ambidextrous baseball player with quick feet and advanced skills.

Switch hitting:

Started switch hitting when he was five years old using a wood bat. Continues to use a wood bat in practice, summer league and fall ball. Line-drive and gap hitter. Excellent bunter – both right- and left-handed.

College hitting instructors include: Donny Harrel (Seattle U), Kevin Miller (Bellevue College), Dave Nakama, Jordon Twohig, Evan Wells, and Tanner Swanson (University of Washington).

Switch Pitching:

A natural righty, he started throw lefty, on his own, when he was nine years old. He pitched both ways in a game when he was ten – retiring the first three batters.

In order to learn the art of pitching, he decided to take classes from Mark Yoshino (Bellevue College) and Pete Wilkinson (Wilkinson Academy). He also did weekly bullpen sessions with pitching coach Ron Queen at the K Center in Seattle.

He trained for several years with pitching coaches at the University of Washington Baseball School. At the UW, he learned how to throw a circle changeup and cutter from All-American pitcher Tyler Davis.

In 2013 and 2014, he worked with college pitching coaches Ken Knutson (ASU), Steve Bennett (Gonzaga) and Elliott Cribby (Seattle U) to learn dynamic warmups, arm care, band work, connection drills, and long toss routines. Coach Knutson taught him how to do a quick pickoff and the flex step to hold runners on base.

Trained six days a week under mentor Kyle Boddy of Driveline Baseball to build strength, agility and velocity. Pitchers from Oregon State University and other D1 colleges also train in the off-season at the Driveline facility.

Fielding:

To hone his fielding skills, he trained in the offseason with college infield coaches - Tanner Swanson (UW), Bryan Barnes, Billy Boyer and Nate Santiago.

Also participated in advanced infield camps led by Bill Stubbs and Dave Smart.
