Personal Highlights

My name is Cameron Toth; I am a junior at Heritage High School in Brentwood, California (94513). I’ve been playing water polo for five years and I have been swimming for ten. Over the years I have played just about every position in the field and have played in goal as well, and know how to execute the jobs well. I have played on club teams both summer and winter (Sea Wolves and Oak Wood). I’ve been participating at the varsity level since freshman year and I have been playing at the high school level in the club teams since 7th grade.
My potential majors in college are Communications, and hopefully High school education for special needs children. I am open to any College and I am willing to attend camps and other events.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

During the water polo season I am the mom of the pool deck. I'm very assertive when it comes to getting the girls in the water on time and starting warm ups. During practice, I lead sprints and work out sets and try to be as encouraging as possible. Off the deck I'm an editor for the school news paper. I lead young journalist to the perfect story and assist them as much as needed. I love leading the news room and working with my classmates to improve their writing.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

As a student athlete I believe having healthy athletic performance means eating right, getting a good amount of sleep and keeping grades up. Having the perfect balance of these things is the perfect concoction for a great student athlete. Food is one of my favorite things so I believe its important to have a good lunch and have a small, healthy snack before practice to keep up your energy. After practice I'm always exhausted, I make sure I'm in bed by 10:30pm so I get a good amount of sleep so I'm ready for the next day of work. Being an athlete and a student is a very hard mixture because it feels like you have to choose between school work and practice or missing a class for a game. I always plan ahead for missed classes and homework. To me school always comes first because that's what keeps me playing water polo. To be a successful student athlete you need to find the perfect balance and I believe that I have a good balance between school, sports, and sleep.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I work at the community water park teaching special needs children how to swim. Its a very rewarding job because I get to see a child improve his/her skills, become more confident and enjoy another activity. I believe I have the best job in the world and I love waking up for work every day.
