Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue a "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete through a state of mind approach. In order to pursue a "healthy athletic performance" I believe a student must first obtain and maintain a healthy academic, social and goal oriented lifestyle. Once a student achieves a healthy level of the aforementioned aspects of their life, their athletic performance will be free to be guided by quality coaches, mentors and their love of the game.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Community service efforts and experiences are very important to me. I believe that every member of a community should be involved in local and far reaching community service activities. These actions not only give community members a sense of pride and ownership toward their community, but it also lends each member a heightened understanding of their community and its dynamic needs.

I am involved in many community service activities through My high school, the American Red Cross and the Girl Scouts of America.

My community service activities have included:

The Kaiserslautern High school Toys for Tots drive. (Over $2000 in monetary and merchandise collected for underprivileged children)

Volunteering through the American Red Cross on military bases in Germany doing things such as organizing books and reference material at the community library, assisting at the local veterinary clinic and maintaining equipment and facilities at the community fitness center.

Volunteering through the Girl Scouts of America by caring for and reading to the terminally ill at an international special care medical facility and assisting in community beautification projects by clearing trash from historical and residential areas.
