Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

On the field, I will give encouragement to younger players, and will help players keep their head up after a mistake. I also encourage them to do their best, and work hard to achieve their goals, whether it's staying late after a practice to work on drills, or just focusing on the little things and doing them right. Off the field, I help classmates with their homework when I'm not working on mine, and let younger student know what experiences I've had so they can be more prepared for the future.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am very involved in my community. I have been a president, treasurer, and secretary for my local 4-H club. While involved in 4-H I have helped serve meals at our community center, cleaned up the county fairgrounds, roadside pick-up, and festive town decorations. These are important to me, because in such a small community, appearance means a lot, and a clean town is a happy town. Recently, my football team has helped with the support against Shaken Baby Syndrome. This is important to me, because I have seen the effects of SBS, and there is no reason for a perfectly normal child to be physically abused in such a way. We are also great supporters for breast cancer. A mother of twins on the team have struggled with breast cancer here in the fall of 2013, and our encouragement has helped her through it. She is now getting amazing test results. I like to support not only our community, but others struggling, and do what I can to help.
