Personal Highlights

I am active in my school and community. I participate in many other sports including: Track and field, Basketball, Tennis, Young Life Capernum, Junior Class Student Council, and Spanish Club. I have been playing field hockey since 5th grade, competitively I have been playing since 7th grade at Central Middle School in Dover, Delaware. I am highly passionate about art, fitness and health, and science. I plan to major in Biomedical Engineering. I believe leadership is a crucial key to success and working hard with no excuses is my motto.

Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As Mahatma Ghandi said: “An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.” On and off the field an individual must be aware of his/her influence on others. On the field, being an older member of a team filled with freshman and sophomores I help them with skill work when they are feeling challenged. Also help guide them to be a positive member of the team, by leading by good example. Whether it is assisting someone with a drill or helping coach sort out pennies. Off the field using my gift of gab I try my best to lead by good manners and being assertive. Staying on task and staying "hungry" for the knowledge given to me inspires other students to do the same.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

The most obvious and cliche answer is not involving myself in drugs and alcohol, eating healthy, and continuously exercising. To me health is more that that, it is a triangle that must be maintained. In this triangle you have spiritual health, mental health, and physical health. Before every game I exercise this triangle by praying with members who share the same beliefs of Christianity, having a smile on my face and a focused mindset, and eating the proper food and stretching also. Achieving this before every game, and practice will lead to an healthy athletic performance for me.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am apart of Young Life Capernum, everyone deserves to feel accepted and to have fun! I also am apart of Junior Class of Student Council as a class reporter. We are required to volunteer and help around the community, I still exceed the requirements and volunteer above and beyond. Just giving a smile and being a blessing is also a good service of spreading happiness.
