I am currently a senior Lacrosse goalie at New Albany High School and am extremely interested in finding a college where I can not only obtain my college degree in Public Relations, but can also achieve excellence in Lacrosse, a sport I have come to love. I am originally from Houston, Texas but moved to Konigstein, Germany in 2008. During that time I attended the Frankfurt International School and played softball and volleyball, which were really the only sports offered to girls at that time. In 2010 my family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where I continued playing volleyball for North Atlanta and Volley One, achieving numerous accolades as a team. In 2012 with Volley One we were invited to participate in the national championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, placing in the top tier. Shortly after this my family relocated to Columbus, Ohio where I began playing Lacrosse. I had been exposed to men’s Lacrosse for several years watching my brother play, but had never been in an area that offered women’s Lacrosse. Upon moving to Ohio, I knew that Lacrosse was what I wanted to do and was excited to see that my new school offered a women’s Lacrosse program. After a skills assessment and try outs, I made the varsity team my first year and was placed in the goalie position. In my initial year we won our first State Championship in several years. Each year I feel my skill focus and commitment to the game and my team has helped me be successful in the numerous wins we have achieved. I am excited to be starting this new chapter in my sports and education career and look forward to the opportunities that I hope to be afforded.
Through personal trainers, reading, networks and social media I am constantly looking for ways to improve my nutrition, work outs and on field skills.
I volunteer at the Franklin County Animal Shelter. I love animals and this opportunity provides me the ability to work with various kinds of animals. My focus is to complete the pit bull training. Once I complete this training I will be allowed to work with pits that require rehabilitation.
This fall I volunteered to be a Camp Counselor for New Albany Middle School camp sessions (September 8-12). The middle school students go to camp to build their communication, teamwork and confidence. The camp has ropes courses, scavenger hunts, hiking and other events to build character. This was a great experience to get involved in not only my community but my school as well.
