Florida High School State Meet 2015 2nd place;
My sister, Meghan Miller, dove for the University of Florida.
I have been the Captain of the Dive team for the past 3 years. I have been a member of the Student Council all through high school. I am a member of the National Honor Society. I was selected by my high school administration to be enrolled in the Leadership Class of Coral Shores. As the reigning "Mr. Coral Shores" I set an example for the student body that you can be a student, an athlete and demonstrate school pride. I am a member of the School Advisory Council. This council, comprised of parents, school staff and students serves the school principal.
I work with my club coach to establish a training schedule working around my academic responsibilities. Since I have to travel 3 hours round trip to the pool I often use the travel time to work on homework.
Our school has a program for student athletes in which we "Serve to Play." Each athletic team performs as a group community service. Through this program I have volunteered stocking the shelves of the food pantry, timed swimmers at the Orange Bowl Classic Swim Meet, and cleaned up the cages at the Wild Bird Center. Additionally, I have volunteered at the Islamorada Swim for Alligator Lighthouse, The Aquatic Ball - set up and tear down, Islamorada Fishing and Conservation Trust annual Casino Night, Upper Keys Rotary Nautical Flea Market weekend and Miami Diving Summer Dive Camps and Osprey Diving program.
Volunteering is an example of win-win. I enjoy giving of my time and talents and my community benefits too.
