Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Off the field I feel that I have demonstrated exemplary leadership and great balance in academics and extra curricular activities due to my time management. As a result, my sophomore year I was accepted into the National Honor Society.Later in the year I founded of Friends of Rachel Club. This club was initiated to promote compassion and kindness among peers in honor of Rachel Scott who died during the shooting at Columbine High school. I went to several classrooms and shared a presentation I created showing the effects of bullying and had classes engage in activities that proved how the smallest things might be the most significant to others.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue healthy athletic performance by getting rest and keeping a healthy diet. I strive to drink a gallon of water a day for hydration and to keep my body clear. I also eat a lot of protein, granola bars, and fruits throughout the day for healthy energy during today. I stay away from fried, and dessert foods by going grilled/baked and by eating a sweet fruit as "dessert".l

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have dedicated over 250 hours of my time to my community. I have given my time to Toys for Tots by helping distribute Christmas gifts to the less fortunate. I am also the senior assistant in teaching classes for the Charlotte chapter of the National Junior Cotillion League where I teach middle school students etiquette, ballroom dancing, and vital social skills. For St. Jude's Children's hospital, I refereed a charity basketball tournament to help raise money for less fortunate families pay for surgery. As a participant in the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken baseball league, I participated in an effort to feed the homeless in downtown Charlotte. With many more volunteer opportunities to list, I don't see volunteering as work, but as an instilled passion.
