Personal Highlights

I acted as a volunteer coach to our Middle School divers at several of their meets in 2016 and 2017. I assist with coaching our club's learn to dive members. I also volunteer some of my time building and maintaining local mountain bike trails with

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I want to be recruited to dive in college because I love the sport. I would love to continue to make personal connections with others involved in the sport. I don't feel like I have done everything I want to within the sport of diving, I still have the fire to compete. I want to be part of a team. I want to learn not just the lessons about the sport but about life.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have demonstrated leadership both in my sport and outside by giving of myself. I have helped my new diving teammates acclimate to the world of HS diving, many of them starting off as non-divers starting at the beginning. I have been farther in the level of competition than the rest of my team so far, so I have more experience I can use to help others. I fill in for our coach when it is needed. I cheer for my teammates' successes more than my own. When not competing or training, I am setting the example of service to others and leadership in my grades and activities. For example, I am currently serving as section leader for the tuba section of my high school bands.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue a healthy athletic performance by taking each dive, practice, meet as it comes without allowing the pressure to overwhelm me. I keep a good balance in my life of focus on school, diving, and my music which allows me to be a better athlete. I get care from doctors, chiropractors, and trainers when I need it. I know how to speak up about my body to my coaches when necessary. I know when I am healthy and when I need to be careful. I have been in sports training long enough to know the value of conditioning.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Currently I am involved with two organizations that exemplify the importance of leadership and service: Student Council and National Honor Society. For our local chapters, we are expected to donate time to our school and community as requirement for membership because good leaders serve others first. I have helped at the school musical, worked with young divers learning to dive, done trail maintenance at a local mountain biking trail, and collected cans for the hungry.
