Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have led efforts among my team to raise money for my group, the Danny Dragoons, for the Walk to Cure Diabetes. This money goes directly to research to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, and many of my rowing teammates help me raise funds and use the 5k Walk as a workout opportunity, running the distance as fast as possible.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I make the choice to try and get to bed before 10:15 each night, so that I am not tired before each rowing practice and school day. I also balance my large load of AP courses with rowing by completing a weekly plan of long-term assignments and tests that I need to get done, and taking a break from a practice or two to complete my work if I need to,

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

My involvement with JDRF (formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) on a local and national level is very personal as I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 10 years ago and have two cousins with the disease. Some of my efforts with JDRF include:
Florida delegate to JDRF's Children's Congress (7 selected statewide)
JDRF Youth Ambassador for 8 years

Founding member of Suncoast Teens with Diabetes

I serve on the Citizens Advisory Council for the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program (SBEP), being selected as the only youth representative following my graduation from the Community Youth Develop's STAR Leadership Program. I fish and row through Sarasota Bay and care very much about this natural resource.
