Soccer Honors

Freshman year - We placed second in our district in Class 1 to John Burroughs, and second in conference to Bayless. I started every game.

Sophomore year - We placed second in our district in Class 1 again to John Burroughs, who went on to win the State Championship. We got first place in our conference, and I received the First Team All-Conference award. I started every game as a Left Back.

Junior Year - Record breaking year for Crossroads. We placed 1st in our conference again over Bayless. This was my first year playing sweeper on our team, and I started every game. I was also Captain of the team as a Junior. We won our district against the highly favored Principia. We then went onto win Sectionals against Saxony Lutheran. Then finally we placed 4th in the state tournament in Blue Springs, marking the first state appearance for any sport in Crossroads history. I was elected by the coaches to First Team All-State of Class 1, as well as First Team All-Conference again for the second year.

Soccer Additional

As well as playing Varsity level soccer, I also work a lot with younger kids. I have coached at a soccer clinic every Saturday morning for Kindergarten through 3rd graders. On top of that I also ref games ranging from kindergarten to middle school, and finally I am the head coach of the middle school indoor soccer team at my school and assistant coach for the outdoor middle school soccer team.

Other Academic Information
Freshman summer I attended the George Washington Pre-College summer camp. Sophomore summer I took part in a month long immersion in Seville, Spain, and I lived with a host family the entire time. This helped me understand living in a foreign place, and allowed me to learn about the culture and language in Spain. In the summer of my Junior to Senior year, I did another cultural immersion, this time in England. I spent a month in the city of Worcester, England and traveled around England and Wales. I was given the University of Pennsylvania book award at our school in my junior year for my academic achievements. I was also received the AP Scholar with Honor Award "in recognition of exemplary college-level achievement on Advanced Placement Program Examinations."

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I believe that being a leader on and off the field will get you far in life. I have displayed this by being captain of my JV lacrosse team freshman year, and trying to be a big presence on the Varsity team now, at a school I don't go to. As for soccer, I have been a starter since freshman year and captain my junior and senior year. Off the field I have displayed this by running and being elected onto the student council at my school. I also strive to be a leader, and role model for younger kids. This is why I try to conduct myself well on and off the field, as well as coaching and teaching kids how to play the game the right way.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue this by balancing my priorities properly, while also being the best I can at what I do. I take pride in maintaining excellent grades and working hard to try to become the best I can at what I do. Although this may mean I don't have a ton of free time, I am becoming the person I strive to be and hope to build a drive that will remain with me in life. Sports are a huge part of my life, but so is education, and I hope to continue to balance great education along with playing soccer competitively.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

In saint louis, community is everything. We are a somewhat small town in which everyone knows each other. I have given back to the community a few different ways. I have done community service at many different organizations including: Operation Food Search, KidSmart, and South Side Day Care. This gives me great insight into many different communities and the struggles many people go through and what we should not take for granted. I also work at the public University City pool as a lifeguard over the summer. Then I began coaching the middle school soccer team at my school. As well as coaching a clinic in University City every Saturday for kids ranging from kindergarten to 3rd grade.
