Other Academic Information
I started homeschooling in my 6th grade year. I enjoy the flexibility homeschooling offers. Through homeschooling we are able to travel and do many things many people my age can not. I do attend Marian High School in the fall semester for 70% of the day. Indiana state law allows me to play on the Marian High School tennis team while attending classes 70% of the day. During the 2nd semester our family travels to warmer climates. This is great, my parents build in great field trips and lessons many students from Indiana may never get to enjoy as a field trip. Traveling also allows me to attend tennis academy during the winter months in South Carolina.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

While on the court, I work hard with my team mates and myself to make sure I'm not making bad calls. I work with students and help teach, I always make sure to stress the importance of truth and winning with integrity. While off the court, I demonstrate leadership by working with the 4-H fair. Over the past 4 years while volunteering with the fair board, I have been promoted to leadership and supervised of the other 17 fair board apprentices.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I work hard on my tennis, working sometimes 5-6 days per week with a combination of group lessons, private lessons, and open tennis. I try to make sure to make healthy choices by choosing water over soda, veggies and fruits over junk foods, and balance my tennis with other teenage activities like 4-H, doing odd jobs for my neighbors, vacationing, and being with my friends.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have been involved for the past 8 years with Elkhart County 4-H. I serve as an apprentice on the 4-H Fairboard the past 4 years. This involve working with the fair board, with monthly meetings, during the month of July it involves weekly meetings, during the 10 days of the fair it includes daily meetings at 7AM, and volunteering and doing various jobs throughout the fair. Helping with children activities, at the petting barn, helping with cleaning up the park areas, distributing literature. This is very important to me as the fair is a great program within our community.
