Captain of Patuxent High school's Varsity Field Hockey team

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As captain of my high school's lacrosse team, sometimes the pressure seems to be too much, however I know that my teammates depend on me to give them encouragement just as I depend of them to do the same. I always try to point out positive things my teammates are doing and give advice when they ask me questions about certain skill sets.
Off the field I am the Head of the Environmental Science Section in Science National Honor Society. This includes competing in Envirothon, and assigning articles, and giving presentations on a weekly basis that will be of interest to other students like myself who are interested in going to college for Environmental Studies.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Along with lacrosse I also play field hockey and my team is very committed to helping the community. We often hold youth clinics four or five times a year to get the young kids in our community active and ready to play high school level field hockey. This is very important to me and the seniors of my team because a lot of the girls come from broken homes and they look up to us for guidance and mentoring. Nothing feels better than setting these girls up on the right path to success.
