I serve in an advisory capacity as a Youth Commissioner to the Sacramento City Council in promoting City Services and functions relating to youth. I actively help youth understand the workings of their local government; while encouraging youth to actively participate in community affairs and matters of concern to the City of Sacramento. I receive suggestions and complaints regarding youth matters and recommend solutions to the City Council. I coordinate with other commissions, youth advisory bodies, and youth groups in areas of mutual concern and benefit.

MY VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:

Sacramento Youth Commission September 2013 - Present

Youth Commissioner/District 1

Collectively identify and voice the issues facing Sacramento’s youth. Advise the Sacramento City Council on local youth issues. Plan events that help youth in a positive way. Perform various volunteer services in the local community. Promote volunteerism, community engagement, and youth leadership. Create change and make the City of Sacramento an exceptional city for youth.

Organization Historian November 2013 - Present

Generate and submit annual reports to the Sacramento City Council on the Youth Commission’s activities, goals and accomplishments. Take pictures at activities and meetings. Record special achievements and accomplishments. Create a quarterly newsletter. Keep track of all Youth Commission records. Collect and file history related items of the Youth Commission to include newspaper clippings, photographs, invitations, flyers, and newsletters.
