My goal is to be a leader in the realm of defending those who are oppressed. Throughout my life, this has played itself out through being heavily involved in the special needs community. I am praying God will guide my path, and show me what are the steps he wishes me to take, but as of right now, I am not sure what major to choose to best prepare myself for what is ahead of me.

Personal Highlights

I found rowing this semester, around mid September, and am loving it so far! I have done many sports in the past, but often not the typical ones. In high school, I swam and played water polo. These were intense sports that pushed me to my limits. I got offered to play water polo in college, but I was unsure in what my desires were, so I declined. My first year of college was rough, striving to find my fit. I believe I have found that, and I am extremely grateful to have found rowing. I love working hard and giving it my all, and rowing allows me to do that. In swimming, I plateaued because my coach had never taught me proper form. I now know that it is my responsibility to improve in the correct ways. My coach is fantastic, and constantly strives to improve the way I row. At the beginning, I hardly improved my split times at all, as coach restrained me, prodding me to focus on being proficient and technically sound in the activity, before trying to apply power. It took a few weeks before I came to the point at which the motion felt natural to me. After that, I was finally able to apply my strength in the right ways and I have improved dramatically since. As a rower, I am always striving to be the best, and while I am nowhere close to that right now, I understand it is a process. Thank you so much for taking the time to read through my profile, and I would be honored to row for your program.
