I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old until about the age of 10. I had to stop soccer at the age of 10 because I was not able to take on two activities and then I had to help my family out with their business. It wasn't until my last year in middle school I was able to go back to playing soccer and have been playing up until today and working every day to make up for lost time.
I have played Varsity Sophmore year at Lawrence High School and the past two years I have played for Sporting Blue Valley Teams.
I currently play for Sporting Blue Valley Quicksilver.
I am a hard worker and have joined other training programs to help increase my fitness level so I am prepared physically and mentally for college level women's soccer. I do my fitness training with Fit Academy and do additional skill training with other groups, or on my own to keep up on touches with the ball while winter practice times can be limited. If there is an opportunity to join in on another team's practice, or they are down a player I am the first to volunteer.
Aside from my soccer activity I have maintained an approx 3.7 GPA while keeping up with a busy soccer training schedule and work with our park district locally. I have a strong work ethic and have been a leader at my club team, as well as my High School team. I am no stranger to hard work and am always looking at ways I can improve. I feel these are stong assets that I have to offer a college.
I feel I have been a strong leader both in my club team and my High School by continuing to keep spirits high even when the score board is not so good. I don't miss a practice and workout on my own. When I am not at practice , or have training, I will call a group of my high school friends together to play pick up games. Many of them do not play off-season so this helps everyone get touches on the ball and good practice time. I'll even call a friend to go on a run to help inspire others to stay in shape. High School season is very difficult because there are a large number of girls that do not play at the club level, or play off season at all. Most times we are at a disadvantage to the bigger schools in Kansas City, but I try to keep things positive. While on the field I try to shrug off the negative and keep us going to the bitter end!
I pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete by making sure I have a strong balance between my school work and my sport responsibilities. I do a good job at time management to make sure I have time for studying around practices and workouts between practices. I do additional workouts on my own to ensure I am in top shape on the field. I talk with coaches on what I can do to improve and when time permits I do added training and skill work. As I mentioned before I do fitness training twice a week, with FIT Academy and I ensure to get my homework done before training, or if I go after school I do homework after.
I eat right and have done research, as well as, listened to nutritional speeches at different camps. I try to make sure I am having balanced meals. I have not drank soda in over a year and although I do like my sweets I take my lunches and watch what I eat.
I had to discontinue soccer at the age of 10 so I could help my family run our horse farm. I worked for our horse farm in Kansas and often time had to help work with children that either took lessons, or on occasion we offered riding lessons for families with special children. Once my parents sold their horse farm I kept working with the horses we still owned and while there I helped with children learning to ride.
When we sold our horses I was able to go back to my true love Soccer, around the age of 14. Now that I am 16 I am looking to help with my park district, or other clubs with kids learning the sport. I have just started working for the City of Lawrence and look to continue in the summer supporting their programs for children.
