Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

one of the coaches I have had would switch us on and off the field because it was her job to make sure our team remained stable through the game. I found that it helped to be encouraging when on the field and when off the field. It really helped to motivate the girls to keep trying and not worry about the end score but always to make a comeback. Sometimes coaches can be negative through stress and I found that someone encouraging the girls is a way to release the tension pre-draw, whether it's on the field or off.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I avoid drugs and alcohol, I do not utilize false products such as Whey supplements and Creatine supplements. I balance my life accordingly, and work hard off the field in training for a half marathon, practicing with friends and eating balanced meals that include loads of veggies. I take down time to practice things such as footwork to shooting, to even increasing sprint times.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I dedicated a lot of my time to horseback riding. I have helped out at Kingsway Farm in Winfield IL assisting instructors in activities such as tacking horses and helping with lessons. I assisted another farm named Adire Farm located just on the outside of Chapin South Carolina and I helped with stable maintance, feeding rituals and also mucking fields. These tested me an an individual because a lot of the tasks such as mucking fields were not chores I enjoyed but they were good for me to do. I never had an older sister and a big part of taking lessons at Kingsway farm was learning from the older girls about horses and having a mentor closer in age, so I'm glad I got to mentor little kids around horses and educate them when the instructor could not. I felt like it adds to the passion of horseback riding and keeps the sport going.
I have volunteered at Dupage Animal shelter for a full year with a friend and her mom. Helping at DuPage animal shelter was important to me because it provided with valuable time around animals I was not allowed to have. It also gave back to the community and who doesn't love helping an animal have an easier day in a stressful place?!
I participated in JV and Varsity Cheerleading before, and I ran a clinic with other girls and taught girls the basics of cheerleading such as stunting, tumbling and jumps. I loved cheerleading when I did it so sharing what I loved to do was fun with the little girls.
