Softball Additional

I stated playing my freshman year, walking onto the field as one of seven girls that year to never have picked up a softball before. I played mostly right field that year, until one game, our third baseman didn't show up to a game, so I was put on 3rd, and I fell in love with it. I trained and played even harder my sophomore year, and ended the season as the only person on the field to not be moved around on the field, and our last game, I hit 3 triples to the fence, two of them were inches from going over. It's my junior year, and I've been doing a lot of practice outside of regular practice, I participated in preseason practice, done hitting drills by myself, and haven't left the field clean this year. I am more dedicated to this way of life than anybody else, and I will do anything to improve the way I play. I mostly play 3rd base, but I've been being trained on 1st because our 1st baseman has other commitments as well as softball. I live by 3 motto's, "If you leave the field clean, you're doing something wrong.", "There may be people that have more talent than you, but there is no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do.", and "Whatever you're gonna be, be a good one." The second one was said by Derek Jeter, and the last one was said by Abraham Lincoln. The way I interpret it is, no matter where you're playing on the field, whether it's your regular position or a place you're not comfortable with, play with all of your heart and be the very best you can be in that place. Softball means the world to me, and it saved my life. I have no missed a single practice or game since I started freshman year, and I never will.

Personal Highlights

I play 3rd base on our JV team and I live by the motto "There may be people who have more talent than you, but there's no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do - and I believe that." Said by Derek Jeter.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Softball has changed my entire life. My attitude is completely different than it ever has been, and my dedication is higher than anybody else out there. You cannot find a player more dedicated than I am. I'm coachable and I'm willing to learn any position on the field. Softball comes first.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As a freshman, I was timid and scared to speak up. As a junior, I help keep the underclassmen in line and on task. I've made lineups and base coached for my teammates. I do homework on the bus whenever I possibly can, and make sure all of my grades are up-to-date. I am more dedicated to softball than anything, and I won't allow something like my grades be the reason I don't play.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I help coach and umpire the younger leagues in my area. I have taught younger girls how to catch and bat, and the importance of having confidence in yourself and being dedicated to playing and being the best player you can be. It's not about winning or losing, it's about how you play the game.
I am also a part of North Bend High School Select Choir, and we perform all around the community at random events. We went to state this year and won 2nd place for 4A schools.
