Rowing Additional

I started rowing in the fall of my novice year and completed seasons of fall, winter, and spring in the top boats. I am currently on varsity and competed in the first eight at three regattas including the Head of the Hooch, I was also in the second four. In the spring season I competed in three different regattas in an Eight and Four category in both. Each regatta my boats advanced to finals and had a few ruff final races for instance at Cincinnati Invitational my four had open water on boats for second and our two seat caught a stopping boat crab and we finished last. But any other time my boats medaled in finals at the regatta's. It has been a competitive season for my team competing for spots in boats.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I am a Missouri Leadership Seminar Alumni, which is a organization where one individual was chosen from each Missouri School to attend a weekend Seminar. The student must have a positive and leadership mentality. I am the president of Wellness Club at my school which we help make sure every student has a positive and healthy mind, body, and spirit. I have led activities that include Wednesday morning walks, Don't text and drive Campaign, sexual violence assembly, and candy grams. I in my schools student government which our department organizes dances, events, free dress days, and assemblies. Finally, I am a leader in the speech and debate team at my school. I watch people practice and give my input, while signing people up for categories.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
-
Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I volunteer at SPENSA on saturday mornings, which is a morning soccer session where I buddy up with an individual with both mental and physical illness. I teach them on how to play and encourage them to do anything.
I volunteer at Camp Independence which is a day long camp that has students with cerebral palsy come and play sports to become more active. I buddy up with one individual and help them play sports that include swimming, soccer, basketball, ice skating, and adaptive biking.
