Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

ON THE FIELD:
I really enjoy being a leader and Captain on the football field. I lead my teammates by exhibiting characteristics that both the coaches (and my teammates) are looking for out of me. I've developed great friendships over the years with the guys. I've learned from the older ones and I always look forward to being a mentor to the underclassmen. I feel that my integrity, maturity, and my desire to succeed balanced with a high football I.Q. make me a valuable recruit.

OFF THE FIELD:
Off the field, I help lead our captains practices and push the guys to push themselves in the weight room and class room. I've had many talks with the younger guys because whether its an injury or they're just making mistakes, I've pretty much gone through almost everything they're going through at some point. It makes me feel good to help people out.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Whether it was year-round basketball or football and the weight room, I've always made it a habit to stay active. Eating well and getting sleep are also important things that an athlete needs to do. Everybody needs a little down-time too. One of my favorite things to do is go fishing because I can relax and think about things that are going on.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

NHS – National Honor Society
As an active member of the National Honor Society, I’ve given my time to multiple organizations to help the citizens of Rochester. I’ve volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Christmas Anonymous, YMCA, United Way, and also with the local youth basketball and football non-profit organizations. I was encouraged to join NHS by my teachers, and I'm glad I listened.

FCA - Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Last year, the outgoing senior leaders elected me to be a co-leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Rochester which has membership from all three public schools. I find it to be extremely rewarding and I enjoy showing others how their faith has a place in sports. Talking about God in front of strangers isn't the most comfortable thing, but the fact that I'm able to do it consistently, and develop good friendships while doing it, makes me feel pretty good.
