John Mack Southern Tier shootout
February 16, 2015
Last weekend I went to the John Mack Southern Tier shootout in Binghamton New York, where my coach had me playing center-mid for all of our games. I thought it was a wonderful experience and although the Albany team dropped out last minute due to the weather conditions, there was good competition. During practice we were trying out something that my coach calls the draw and dump. Basically all you do on offense is make yourself look like a threat by pretending to run to the goal to shoot so the opposing defenders will double-team you then you pass to the girl they left open and they shoot causing some amazing assists. A majority of my assists/goals were from that play and they worked because there was teamwork involved. I believe that you can be a great player by shooting every chance you get and only make some of them but you can be and even better player by getting along with your team and seeing all of the open opportunities for yourself and your teammates.
