Athlete of the Week
I want to stay in shape and lead and active and healthy lifestyle in anyway I can. I want to continue building in my craft and see what new roads could be open to me, I love being a part of team, going out having good competitive fun doing what I love-
Along with being a leader and trying to help out the younger athletes on the team I also work a lot in leadership groups. currently I am the President on the high school student council and I am also VP of National Honors Society, in leadership council, alpha leadership, CAC, etc. The skills I use and learn in these various groups tremendously help me on the courts. Before I came to the team, the girls weren't really a team. Tennis isn't exactly the most team affiliated sport, but I still believed that we should all know each other personally. So after talking to my fellow seniors we decided this year to continue to have scheduled team bonding and team dinners so that we can grow together and learn from each other. I hope that this will make us stronger both mentally and physically.
There is one week of team conditioning before the season starts, but we also have to take it upon ourselves to condition our own way. I take lessons and workout during my off season and I also play rec league softball during the summer time. I also take certain diets throughout the off season as well so by the time the fall season comes around I am fit and ready. Weight has always been a struggle for me so I really have to try hard to remain healthy as a student athlete.
I often join and sign up for many community service opportunities. Also the high school sponsors Mulch Madness which is a service project that all NHS athletes must participate in. People pay to have us mulch their yards in the month of March.
