2018 Varsity Starting Foward
Football and Baseball:
My name is Cooper Justice and I am a senior at Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego, Oregon where I maintain a 3.60 GPA. Along with core classes, I am in AP Statistics, AP Human Geography, AP Economics and A Capella. I am also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Outside of school, I love playing sports. I am a three-sport athlete that plays football, baseball, and basketball. In football, I am the starting varsity quarterback and Team Captain. In basketball last year I led my team in rebounds, second in points, and third in steals and assists. In baseball, I was named 1st team all-league pitcher and Lakeridge varsity pitcher of the year with a .980 ERA over 50 innings pitched. As a freshman, I went 2-0, pitching a shutout in my first start and was named Rookie of the year. My ERA was .884 over 31.2 innings pitched.
When I’m not busy playing sports I relax by reading, playing Madden football, or just hanging out with my friends or watching movies with my family. The last five books I have read are Cyrano De Bergerac, The Book Thief, The Great Gatsby, Catcher in the Rye, and To Kill a Mockingbird. I also enjoy seeing new places. The best place I’ve ever visited was Hawaii. But I love my family's annual trip to Orcas Island in the Washington San Juan Islands.
I love sports and I want to experience sports at the collegiate level.
On the field, my teammates look up to me. I lead warmups, pre-game chants, and manage the huddle as QB. On defense, I'm calling out schemes. When I'm on the sidelines I'm cheering on my teammates and giving high-fives on substitutions. Off the field, I try to lead by doing the right things in and out of school. In school, I lead by example, in 8th grade I worked with a kindergartner "little buddies" throughout the school year. That was one of my favorite things to do at St. Anthony. My club basketball coach asked me to assist him in coaching youth basketball camps. This summer, I volunteered to help coach the Pacers Youth Football camp.
I'm exercising in one form or another pretty much every day (usually take Friday off). My goal is a minimum 9 hours of sleep a night, but I try to get 10+. I keep a water bottle with me at school and a jug of water in the fridge at home to stay hydrated daily. I eat 3 meals a day with snacks in between. Breakfast includes protein, dairy, carbohydrates and fruit. I drink vegetable juice most mornings and usually a protein shake before practices.
Through Scouts I have participated in many community based events including debris clean up, tree plantings, and Eagle Scout projects that usually involved community enhancements. During Cub Scouts we did litter pick up at our school and Christmas caroling at local senior centers.
